Parish Emergency Support Team (PEST)
Emergency Support Plan
Local councils are being asked to put into place an action plan to provide support in case of emergencies. In most situations the Police, or Fire and Rescue services will take control of an incident and will notify the District and County Councils who will in turn contact the Parish. However, in some circumstances, we may become cut off from the normal channels of assistance or be in a situation that has caused the facilities of the emergency services to be thinly spread. Our risk assessment highlights Flooding, Extreme weather, Flu pandemic as some examples.
Our parish council chairman and deputy are our team leaders and can set the plan into action, calling on the help of the other team members and parish councillors. They will also liaise with the District Council and Emergency services and can set up emergency rest centres with basic survival equipment in the parish halls of Powick and Callow End.
In most situations the team members will be aware of situations as they develop but in the case of flooding parishioners in danger may need to alert us of their need of assistance.
